The Old Testament book of First Samuel has, in my opinion, one of the most powerful stories of a struggle under mockery, that would drive anyone away into a horrible state. However, the story of Hannah shows us how that same struggle can, and should drive us to the Lord God, both to let our request be made known, but also to give up of ourselves all the victory and blessing that God would give, back to Him. Little did Hannah know that in the big picture of things, God was looking for a person to use in a prophetic fashion to correct the priestly impropriety of the sons of Eli. God found that in the heart cry of Hannah. It is a powerful reminder that faith and trust in the Lord‘s Providence and power are available to any person who would exercise it. Perhaps you, like Hannah, have the opportunity to take your distress and call upon the Lord to see His hand, move in your life. Don’t despise the struggle. Put your faith in the Lord. Glorify him with the offering of God‘s victory even before it happens! What a great challenge of faith from this mom, Hannah. Happy Mother’s Day!
